Naropa University – Extended Studies offers a unique weekend intensive in mindful drumming from the ancient wisdom of Ghana, West Africa. Mindful drumming is both a practice and a metaphor that allows us to see more deeply how we are in relationship to others. In this Intensive we will use the tools of the drum, movement, chant and spoken word. Kokomon and Aeeshah Clottey, authors and creators of a specialized and fun form of musical and healing arts, will present a weekend intensive using drum, rhythm and sound as metaphors for community building.

When we have personal, financial or social struggles we tend to close down, cut off from others and ourselves. This workshop will create a space to reopen to yourself and to others. You will start by connecting with yourself through drumming, movement and conversation and will emerge from this weekend with tools to communicate more effectively with others even in the midst of struggle and strife. Learn the ancient art of mindful drumming for healing the heart of diversity. Bring a drum.
