Join Us for ArtEsteem's 21st Annual Art Exhibition!
Attitudinal Healing Connection (AHC) invites the public to ArtEsteem’s 21st Annual Art Exhibition, Reflections of Me and My World “Painting Our Power” at our location in West Oakland.
The exhibit event will feature over 100 pieces of art created by children and youth, ages 4 to 19. The work will be for sale and students receive 50% of proceeds, with the remaining 50% going towards ArtEsteem programs and scholarships. The opening reception will showcase vibrant live performances of West African drumming, as taught by ArtEsteem’s Cultural Arts Program. ArtEsteem students and alumnus will be in attendance to help host the event.
“Painting Our Power” is the culmination of a year long effort, and a celebration of the thoughtful and creative work produced through our programs. ArtEsteem serves up to 2500 students a year, providing art enrichment classes with a focus on social and emotional development while supporting educational excellence across academic disciplines. ArtEsteem students are encouraged to see themselves as influential, and to create art through an environmental and social justice lens.
ArtEsteem is run by Attitudinal Healing Connection (AHC). AHC, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, works to empower individuals to be self-aware and inspired through art, education and creativity, making positive choices to break the cycle of violence for themselves and their communities.
This event is expected to draw more than 350 patrons and significant media presence. For event info and RSVP, see our Facebook event page, ArtEsteem Exhibition: “Painting Our Power”. And join the conversation by using the hashtag #ArtEsteem
